Sadara Chemical Company
Ziad Al-Labban joined Sadara Chemical Company as Chief Executive Officer in October, 2012 bringing with him over 30-years of experience in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, both in the upstream and downstream sectors.
Prior to joining Sadara, Ziad was President and CEO of Petro Rabigh, a 400,000 barrel per day integrated refinery-petrochemical plant in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia, which came on-stream the year he joined. He served in this capacity from August 2009 until September 2012. During his tenor at Petro Rabigh, the Company realized a positive net profit each year for 2010, 2011 and 2012. Before Petro Rabigh, Ziad served as President and CEO of Saudi Refining, Incorporated (SRI) in Houston, Texas from August 2007 through July 2009. During that time, he was responsible for managing SRI's interest in Motiva Enterprises, which is a major US refiner with three refineries supported by a marketing network that includes approximately 8,000 Shell branded gasoline retail outlets in the southern and eastern United States.
Ziad's 30+ year career with Saudi Aramco has taken him through a broad range of responsibilities. This has included work experience in other companies where he was seconded, including a year-long assignment with Exxon Production and Research Company in Houston, Texas in 1984 and a 3-year assignment as Vice President of Corporate Planning for Petron Corporation in the Philippines starting in 1998. During his tenure in the Philippines, Ziad was also a director on Petron's Board and Chairman of Ovincor, an insurance subsidiary of Petron located in Bermuda.
Ziad holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University.
